Commendation of 2nd Lieutenant Sharon V. Dennison

Military Policemen assigned to the 549th Military Police Company. from 1962 thru 1964 and serving in the Canal Zone, Republic of Panama, had no idea that years later one of them would contact members who were stationed there together back then, and plan a reunion to be held in Williamsburg, Virginia. As a result of this initial reunion, other reunions followed and continue to this day in various locations along the east coast of the United States.

This year's reunion was held in Savannah, Georgia, and as host I contacted the company commander of the 549th MP Co., then Captain Donald J. Riddle, and inquired if it were possible for our reunion group to visit our old unit since it was located at Fort Stewart, Georgia, a short distance from Savannah. Captain Riddle informed me that Captain Michael K. Huber would be the new company commander and he would have someone contact me.

2nd Lieutenant Sharon V. Dennison called me in early April 2013 to say that she had been given the honor to represent the 549th MP Co., and asked me if we could coordinate a date for our visit to our old unit. May 3, 2013 was settled on, and on that date 22 of our old 549er?s met 2LT Dennison at Gate #3, Fort Stewart, Georgia. 2LT Dennison escorted us to the 549th motor pool where we met up with CPT Huber. We then observed displays that included wheeled vehicles and an array of weapons used by modern day Military Police personnel. We talked with many NCO?s and enlisted men and women. After a visit to the orderly room, our group was taken to Ruby Tuesday's restaurant for lunch, where we all got to meet with ISG Donnie B. Jones Jr.

We retired members of the 549th wish to convey our utmost appreciation and thanks to the 385th Military Police Battalion commander LTC Jerry E Chandler Jr, CSM Clayton J Sneed, the 549th MP Co commander, CPT Michael K. Huber, and especially 2LT Sharon V.Dennison for her outstanding efforts to facilitate this meeting. She understood the significance of us old 549er?s enjoying meeting with modern day military police personnel, soldiers that make us all very proud.

Request that this letter be placed in 2LT Dennison's personal file, and that she be commended for her tireless work in making our visit a pleasant experience. 2LT Dennison's cheerful attitude and attention to detail reflect great credit upon herself, her unit, the Military Police Corps, and the United States Army.
