Biography:  Jim was born and raised in Suffolk County on Long Island. On March 17, 1961 at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to Fort Dix NJ for basic training. After basic he completed advanced training also in Fort Dix. After graduation from AIT he was assigned to the 549th MP Company at Fort Gulick, Panama Canal Zone. Jim was with the 549th assigned to the motor pool at Fort Gulick and Fort Davis for more than two years and then with just a few months left on his enlistment he transferred to the 193 Infantry Brigade at Fort Kobe with his duty station at Fort Davis. He was honorably discharged as a Spec. 5, on March 19, 1964 at Fort Jackson South Carolina. In April of 1964 he went to work for the Long Island Railroad as a freight brakeman. He worked in various capacities in the operating department for the next 30 years and then retired as the Superintendent of Operating Rules... After his retirement from the LIRR, Jim went to work for the Federal Railroad Administration and worked as an accident investigator and inspector for the next 12 years. He retired from federal service in 2006 bridging his military service with the Federal Railroad administration. Since retirement Jim has became an avid motorcyclist and enjoys taking long distance out of state rides... He still lives on long Island with his wife Rae. This May ,they will be married 46 years .They have four children and eight grandchildren.
